Another great session Ryan but I have a question. The additional needle pluck when decandling, you said remove 6 to 8 pairs. Is that per branch from all branches, or except the weakest ?
Nice trees I would have played a bit more with nonuniformity spacing them in a more irregular manner to make them look less “planted”
Very informative.... thanks. The style of constantly posing questions to the audience is a little tiresome. It's good to engage the audience but too much of that ..as a spectator and a novice it can be intimidating
OMG.. thats Amazing !!! Congrats
I wondered do you still have this tree?
Beautiful on so many levels. Thanks for sharing.
Que bueno 👍👍👍👍👍
Now I just need to get a black pine! 😂 Thanks for sharing Ian, I only found this one now. 😅 this material never gets old. 😊
Congratulations
The Scots pine grows even in Siberia at - 40 C. In Scotland it's only high in the mountains. Isn't it too warm for it in Ireland?
It’s a native to Ireland as well.
Can you translate the subtitle in french please🙏🙏🙏
Bizarre teaching style. Seems to spend less time imparting what he knows and more on asking the students questions in a confrontational aggressive manner. They’ve come to learn from him, not have their lack of knowledge shown up. If they knew the answers they wouldn’t need to be there.
Camera man need training badly
Anyone have any recommendations for getting similar looking and similar sized containers as he had his in here?
Tellement beau et poétique et un excellent choix de musique, merci
I know very little about bonsai, but I saw this species being sold at Home Depot and was considering a try. Do you cut off most of the leaves? Sorry if this is a silly question.
The best and most concise info on two flush pines anywhere! Thank you Ian and Ryan!
Baie mooi my broer ,brav0
Peter sure knows what he's talking about, great tutorial
Great information for mature trees. I wish there was a video like this for immature trees.
spectacular
Hi Bonsai eejit. I live in Comber so we are practically neighbours. Stumbled on your channel after searching RUclips for help with my cheap and neglected supermarket bonsai. It's now been about 6 hours of You Tubing and I have decided to reinvent my whole life as a bonsai specialist!! 🤣 So many questions tho and so much to learn. Can you tell me what would be a good tree for a beginner to try to grow?
I hate how this guy tries to put people on the spot. Rather than teach what he know he tries to test the audience with his questions...it's a poor method of teaching in my view, constantly questioning your audience's knowledge....
I would love to make a life-sized "bonsai"/sculpted tree... (I.e. bend a cherry tree) to make my own little hangout nook to sit on and create a unique tree too
Wow! I had a feeling an escallonia might make a good bonsai. The branches grow in such interesting shapes. I wonder what this one is like now, in 2021?
This is amazing, nature is the true artist. Love these natural looking trees
Nice bonsai matrial
Wonderful trees ... :)
I repotteed my juniper and after having it for a couple years and practicing approach grafts on it ( was just a practice tree) I saw the tree within the tree. Very good feeling when your newer to practicing bonsai and start to see how to best use the raw material you own. Anyways I made a big mistake by taking a wedge off the top instead of taking the wedge from the bottom since I want to bend the branch down. My question is probably difficult to answer without seeing the tree but there is another point a couple inches away up the trunk ( or down since it's going to be a cascade) that would make a good looking natural transition by taking a wedge off the bottom off the trunk and im worried that I may have set back the plan for this tree because if I don't want to kill any branches above the wedge does the tree need time to reroute the flow of nutrients in case I disrupted that route with the first wedge on the top? Hope that makes sense. Can't believe I made the wedge on the top and is one of the dumbest mess ups I've done so far especially when you start to bend the branch down and the wedge gets wider and wider which then it obvious that if taken from the bottom it would come together and heal since the cambiums will be touching. Ugh
keren
Nice ide ... 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
What a fantastic lesson on Black Pines! While in-person/hands-on classes have been really helpful, I didn't really understand the science behind these trees until I watched this video. Now I feel a lot better about caring for the black pines I own going into my first full growing season - yeah I'm new at this - picked up the hobby during the pandemic.
Beautiful 🤩
loved it~ Thank you for the video :)
Thanks for the video and sharing your knowledge
I learn so much from this man! Thank you!
How do you trim the roots back after a couple years? Do you have to completely redo it? Do roots not grow through the muck wall?
I like this tree: the trunk, the foliage, the nebari, and the style its chosen. Simple and perfect.
Thank you. I purchased a black pine not long ago and am the 3rd person to care for this tree. The man I picked the tree up from told me that he knew the last owner and tree for some time and it had once been styled by you.
Fantastic looking tree and very rare as a Bonsai i would say.
That's a beautiful beech. Having had bonsai for many years I can see how much care, love and training has gone into it. I've lost a lot of mine over the years, and so I feel honoured to see such an exceptional achievement. Many thanks.
I apply this now to an amazing new bonsai creation, and i pray it will not eliminate the beutiful tree. Do you have any other recommendations?? Is it ok to put it right away under the sun or should it wait inside a house or a shelter for a while??
how long would it take to get a tree like this from the time you buy one from a nursery?
Have you managed to stop them yet ?
Nice styling mr. Ryan. Amazing final form.
good
Beautiful
How's the trees , looks like you removed to many roots. Thanks
The visual detail on this video was excellent. Thanks for posting.
I noticed you would cut a notch in the branch and then bend it to where the 2 pieces touch. Will it fuse (grow) back together?
Andy Morgan yes that’s what happens with this technique
Bonsai Eejit Thank You, beautiful work.
